So the twins have been here for one month and we are all adjusting to the reality that this is no longer just "Joey's World". In thinking about our family blog and how to be more inclusive to our newest members we have upgraded to a new blog. Third Birthday Party!

We celebrated Joey's third birthday this weekend with a special dinosaur party at the Omaha Children's Museum. Joey's aunt Rachel and cousin JAC were here from Nashville and we shared many fun birthday celebrations during their visit. The party was a big success. Several of Joey's friends attended and enjoyed dinosaur cake, temporary dinosaur tattoos, and touring the museum. Joey loved every minute and keeps talking about his favorite highlights from the day. We can't believe he's three--he is growing up so fast!

Joey Turns Three!!!

It's Joey's birthday today! He turns three years old and he's so excited. We are so proud of him and love each day we share. This morning he had a special birthday party at school where he shared watermelon with his friends. Then Joey and Mom shared a special lunch with milkshakes! Happy Birthday, Joey!!!

Big Brother

Joey is a great big brother! At first, he really wasn't sure what to think about having two new babies around. He seemed a little concerned about the hospital and the first few days included a few melt-downs. He also wasn't sure whether these babies would really be coming to live with us, but everyday he has warmed up to them more and more and now asks to hold the babies often. He loves showing the babies his toys and helping to get blankets and diapers for them. He's done really well with the transition and thankfully, has gotten a lot of time with his Nanny and Poppy. We are so proud of him!

Daniel Shervin

Daniel Shervin was twin A, the oldest twin who was born first at 8:54 am on Sunday, August 21, 2011. Everyone thinks Daniel looks a lot like his brother and his dad. Looking back at Joey's first pictures, the boys really do look alike. Daniel weighed 5 lbs, 10 oz and measured 19 inches at birth. He has brown hair, but it doesn't seem to be quite as dark as Joey's. Daniel is feisty! He has very funny facial expressions and often looks as though he's quite worried about the world. He has a very loud cry and has a dirty diaper about every thirty minutes. When Daniel is awake, he is very alert and loves to make eye contact. Like Joey, he has very beautiful eyes. He loves to be held and to snuggle. So far, he keeps us on our toes and provides lots of entertainment.

Lily Sara

Lily was twin B, and is the youngest baby. She was born at 8:55 am and weighed 5 lbs, 8 oz and was 18 inches at birth. She seems to have blonde hair and many people have said she looks like her Mom. So far Lily has a very sweet disposition. She is very calm and relaxed and only really cries if she's hungry. She's a good eater and a pretty good sleeper. Her face is very peaceful and her coloring is very pink. We think she's a very pretty little girl and so far she's a joy to be around.

The Twins Are Here!

Joey is a big brother! The twins arrived unexpectedly the morning of Sunday, August 21. Daniel Shervin was born first at 8:54 am weighing 5 lbs, 10 oz and measuring 19 inches long. His sister, Lily Sara, arrived at 8:55 am weighing 5 lbs, 8 oz and measuring 18 inches long. Both were born healthy with no problems and arrived via c-section. The babies came straight to recovery with us and needed no time in the NICU or hospital nursery. Since birth, both have been thriving and are so much fun. Here are some pictures from the first few days...

New School!

Two weeks ago, Joey started attending a Montessori school near our house. He has adjusted very well to the new school and loves his new friends and teachers. He runs up the stairs every morning into his classroom and seems to have a great time while he's there. It seems to be a great fit for him!

Joey's First Movie!

Today Joey went to see his first movie in the theater! We saw "Winnie the Pooh" and he loved it. His favorite part was the popcorn!

37 Weeks pregnant!

Big Boy Bed!!!

About a month ago, Joey moved from his nursery and crib to a new room and a new big boy bed. Joey can be a real creature of habit and we were all a little nervous for this transition since he had done so well in his crib. We have been so pleased with his progress! He loves his new room and bed. He has stayed in his room every night and has taken naps in his room every day. When he wakes up in the morning he turns the lights on all by himself and then reads in his bed until we come to get him. We are still decorating the new room--new lamp shades and window treatments are on the way. And of course there are about 800 of his closest "friends" from Toy Story, Yo Gabba Gabba, and Sesame Street who share his bed. But so far, so good. With so many changes in Joey's world coming, we're happy he's adapted so well to his new room and transitioned from the crib to a big bed.
